#BecomingBea book review - savingsinseconds.com

For fans of the bickering love spats between Anne and Gilbert, or Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, I present to you the most recent title from Leslie Gould. Becoming Bea has that back-and-forth flirtation that makes older people smile and shake their heads.  Bea is a little stuck in her ways and reminds me of Grouchy Smurf.  I can almost hear her little blue voice saying, “I hate travel.”  “I hate hospitals.”  “I hate being bouncy.”

Going into the book, I thought Bea would be like Cate’s character from Courting Cate.  Although it’s a little predictable, the book gives a nice turn to Bea’s personality.  We get to see how she hides behind her strengths and how she feels uncertain about her weaknesses.  I guess one could call that pride.  Becoming Bea is a simple, straightforward Amish romance that will make you want to hug somebody.  Clean, lighthearted stories like this are fun to read over the summer.

Leslie Gould is back with the latest book, Becoming Bea, in her Shakespeare-inspired series, The Courtships of Lancaster County. Don’t miss the other books in the series, Courting Cate (retelling of The Taming of the Shrew), Adoring Addie (inspired by Romeo and Juliet), and Minding Molly (inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream).

The cover is cute. Sweet with a hint of weakness you talked about. The dimension of tough girl with hidden weaknesses really brings life to stories
