Disclosure: I received this book to review. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

I never thought I’d enjoy medical thrillers. That is, until I read Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry a few months ago. That book took me up a roller coaster and threw me back down, then laughed in my face. I was ready for it this time with Critical Condition. At least, I thought I was!

I liked the little details in Critical Condition that made me feel like an insider in the game of hospital politics.

Who knew that July 1 could be a significant date? I wasn’t at all familiar with the medical jargon like Bovie or Critical Condition takes the reader through a series of twists and turns, just like Stress Test. Between HIV and broken beer bottles, I was not sure which way was up. I felt suspicious of everyone in the book, from Shannon’s sister Megan to her boyfriend Mark. Megan was so frustrating, always making the wrong choice and expecting her sister to help her clean up the consequences.

Have you ever relied on someone to help with problems you’ve created? I guess that’s what we do for people we love. That’s what God does for us. Reading Critical Condition made me eager for the next book from Richard Mabry!

I’m sure we’ve all had to lean on and have help with problems we’ve created. I love how you reference that from the book to our talks with God. So true. We look to Him to help us make decisions or get out of situations. I like how you said this book kept you guessing.
