Disclosure: I received this book to review. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

It was a dark and stormy night.

Just kidding.  But if you read Tempest’s Course you’re probably going to be thinking that in your head.  It’s the most recent Quilts of Love book I’ve read and my favorite so far.  This book has a really cool mystery lined throughout the quilting.  Tempest’s Course will appeal to readers who like history, mystery, family secrets, and maybe those who are just a bit nosy.  We can’t forget the romance that brews throughout this story, too!  Curious?  Well….you’ve got to read it for yourself, no spoilers here!

This is a good one-night read, but there was so much that I skimmed in trying to get through to the end.  If the book had been a bit longer and easier to enjoy, I’m sure I would have savored it over a few days.  The idea of a quilt restoration was beautiful to me, since the other Quilts of Love books have entailed the starting of a new quilt.  The characters in the story are no stranger to pain and heartache.  The main character, Kelly, really connects with a former mistress of the house named Mary.  Through the pages of her journal, Mary speaks of her loneliness as the wife of a whaling captain.  To be honest, I would have really preferred just to read Mary’s story (instead of Kelly’s) as she pieced together the quilt.  Oh, well!  My other complaint about Tempest’s Course is that it was too big a story squeezed into so few pages.
Otherwise, it was a good book to pass the time.
