I received a copy of this book to review. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

I recently read The Courier of Caswell Hall by Melanie Dobson.  Oh my heart, this book just captured me from page 1 (which was the prologue…I hadn’t even read the real story yet.)  You must add this to your to-be-read list.  I mean it, especially if you like historical fiction, romance, Christian novels or just a good story.  The Courier of Caswell Hall is all of those and more.  In this book, Dobson expertly creates a situation that I could easily see in my mind’s eye.   It was such an exciting story that I would have taken out any of the romance; it would have been just as thrilling but probably not as satisfying.  The story is set during the Revolutionary War and brings that period to life within its pages.   In our modern day political turbulence, sometimes I lose sight of those events that led to this great country.  Reading The Courier of Caswell Hall just reminded me so much about the sacrifices that were made to give me my freedom.

I’m too much of a chicken to serve my country in battle; however, I appreciated the way that Dobson presented women in the background of the war.  The book also renewed my sense of appreciation for the difficult life many early Americans faced.  After all, living without life’s luxuries such as electricity and Internet required a lot more creativity and stamina in those days.

The opening pages of the book really set the stage for the story.  I loved how Dobson managed that little hook and made me want to know more about the characters right away.  It kept the pages turning.  I loved this story and am thrilled to be part of this book tour.
