The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody

Disclosure: I received this book for the blog tour. Opinions shared are mine.

Yes, the cover is cute. Don’t let the adorable font fool you! This book has so much more than teen drama.  Instead, the story explains how something as small as an inbox notification can become a compulsion.

She Reads Truth Bible #SheReadsTruth #ReadYourBible

Disclosure: I was given this Bible to review for B&H Publishing by FrontGate Media. While I was given the Bible for free all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m LOVING the new trends in today’s Bible editions.  Publishers are catching on to the fun of fonts, textures on covers, and generally making a Bible look pretty.  We used to hide our Bibles in quilted covers and carry them around like a purse. No more!  These Bibles are meant to be attractive all on their own.  I was given a copy of the She Reads Truth Bible in poppy linen hardcover.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  [Read more…]

Last year, my daughter attended the Tennessee Christian Teen Convention in Gatlinburg, TN.  She absolutely loved the experience, saying it was a life-changing weekend.  One of the things she loved most about the convention was the amazing music! The worship songs stay with her even now.  I understand this, since I still catch myself singing favorite church camp worship songs.  In the Alpha / Omega CD, Kutless performs many wonderful, familiar sing-along worship songs that will surely be favorites for your family!   We’re excited to listen to this CD in the car during our daily commute. Mercy Triumphs by Jana Kelley — book spotlight

Disclosure: I am a member of the Litfuse blogger group; opinions shared here are mine.

Two years ago, a family very dear to us moved to Saudi Arabia.  They were invited to be teachers of an elite, progressive private American school.  When the initial plan was announced, the rest of us were all atwitter with worry. Why would they move across the world? What would they do with all their belongings? Would we ever see them again? These brave friends gave away all that they owned, made arrangements for their pets to be adopted, and followed their wanderlust to distant lands.  We keep in touch through texts, photos, and blog posts.  They visited the US over the summer and threw a huge pizza party to reunite with friends.  Their children have taken amazing field trips to Nepal and China.  Following the nudge from God was exactly what they were supposed to do.  My sweet friend recently posted on her blog:

Sunshine all the time makes a desert.

Indescribable by Louie Giglio

Disclosure: I received this book to review. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

Lately my son is completely interested in shows like Bill Nye the Science Guy, Magic School Bus, and basically anything that has a science theme.  He told me that he’s like to be a scientist when he grows up, “but scientists don’t believe in God.”  Wait, WHAT?!

That’s when I knew that Indescribable: 100 Devotions for Kids About God and Science was going to come in handy. [Read more…]

Deadly Proof by Rachel Dylan

Disclosure: Litfuse sent me this book as part of the blog tour. Opinions shared are mine.

As a fan of Lisa Scottoline’s legal thrillers, I really enjoyed Rachel Dylan’s Deadly Proof.  Set in Atlanta, this story gives the reader a peek into the inner workings of a corrupt pharmaceutical company.  It’s all Erin Brockovich kind of stuff, with hunky Landon James as a good side character.
