Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween @Lionsgate #Boo2 #ad

This is our first year of camping fun, so we have a lot to learn!  My friend Lori told me that the best place to go Trick or Treating is the campground at Roan Mountain.  She said the campground gates close at 4 pm because there are so many visitors on that night.  When I was invited to participate in the #Boo2 promotion, I thought of the campground again….this time, wondering how a haunted campground (like the one in A Madea Halloween) might change things! Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for Lionsgate. I received information to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. [Read more…]

Try the K-Cups Coffee Sample Box Amazon

Disclosure: This post contains Amazon affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I may earn a commission.  Opinions shared are mine, and I’m paying for the giveaway myself.

When I posted about Amazon’s Beauty Sample box a few weeks ago, one reader commented that the K-Cup box would be nice to try.  I wholeheartedly agree!  Normally iced coffee is my first choice, but the colder months give me a craving for hot java.  We have several Keurig machines at work, so there are always a few K-Cups in my desk.  My favorites are hazelnut and vanilla, but it’s nice to try some new flavors, too. Doodle, Imagine, Draw sketch book

Both of my kids LOVE to draw. They can occupy themselves for hours, creating illustrations for stories or trying to learn a new style.  Sometimes, though, they need a little inspiration.  When they start saying, “Mom, tell me something to draw”  I know that it’s time to pull out the Doodle, Imagine, Draw sketch book!  [Read more…]

The Cresswell Plot by Eliza Wass

A few days ago, I shared my review of The Cresswell Plot. If you think your family is dysfunctional, you’ve got to check it out! Author Eliza Wass used symbolism in unique ways throughout the book. Several powerful images make this the perfect spooky book to read this fall.

Coding and Computers workbook from Discovery Kids

Coding and Computers

When I was a teenager, my dad tried to convince me to consider computer programming as a career.  It was around the time that dot matrix printers were just coming out on the market….computers were so new that we were in the minority, having one at his house!  Although I’ve never been quite tech-savvy enough to really be good at a computer or coding career, I have to admit that Dad was right.  It would have been a real up-and-coming job for a woman in the 1990s!

These days, Coding and Computers are fun hobbies for kids to learn.  The skills are even taught in schools as part of the STREAM initiative.  Many employers are looking for STEM skills when they hire new employees.  Get a head start on those concepts with a workbook like this!  [Read more…]

Bringing Maggie Home by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Disclosure: I received this book as part of the blog tour. Opinions shared are mine.
Family responsibilities and obligations can weigh heavy on a young heart.  From a young age, Hazel Mae bore the emotional burden of caring for her younger sister….the one who went missing on Hazel’s watch.  As an older sister, I totally understand that feeling of care-giving for a younger sibling, and for feeling responsible when something went wrong.  Bringing Maggie Home brings back all of those panic-inducing emotions.  No matter where you fit in the whole scheme of family relationships, there is someone in this book who will remind you of a person you know.
