It’s a Dog’s Life

Disclosure: I received free products for posting.  Opinions shared are mine.

Our dog is sweet and spoiled.  We treat her like a princess!  Right now, she’s snuggled on her special spot in the camper.  She thinks she is my third child and, to an extent, she’s right.  She’s very pampered.  She doesn’t have a bad life!

Sustainability Made Simple book + bag

Unless you’ve been hiding under a moss-covered rock, you have probably tried at least one way to “go green” in the past few years.  Most of us have reached an awareness about reusing items, recycling, and reducing our footprint. Disclosure: I received a Growing a Green Family pack, too. Opinions shared are mine.  In the book Sustainability Made Simple, readers can consider some really do-able action steps to raising an environmentally aware family. [Read more…]

Get Kids Crafting With The Sock Monkey Kit

Disclosure: I received this kit from Parragon Books. Opinions shared are mine.

Like many moms, I have a box that contains treasures my children made when they were small.  Inside, you’d find handprint portraits, colored masterpieces, and assorted Christmas ornaments.

Thank you, daycare, for teaching my kids how to craft.

I didn’t receive the crafting gene, so I depend on other people to make it easier for me.  Even Pinterest isn’t enough; I need a boxed set with instructions.  Thankfully, Craft Factory exists.  Take this kit for example — it contains most of the supplies you’d  need to create a Sock Monkey! Wild Keepsake Coloring tin + books, pencils

Disclosure: Thanks to Parragon for sending me this set; opinions shared are mine.

My sister has a beautiful tin collection. She’s so creative about using tins around her home to store household items.  I love seeing the newest ways she’ll use them.  Beautiful keepsake coloring tins are so versatile.  While this tin currently holds a set of gorgeous coloring pages and pencils, it can also hold artwork or important papers later. Have you ever been the new kid in town?  I only moved to a new town once in my childhood, but starting anew in Colorado Springs was nothing like being the new kid in Witchtown!  [Read more…]

Beauty and the Beast at Real to Reel Theater in Johnson City, TN

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links; if you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission. Opinions shared are mine.

When I tell people I’m a teacher, they often say, “Oh, you’re so lucky to have the summers off.”  YES, I am!  Teaching is mentally and physically exhausting, and the summer months really do help me to unwind.  During the summer, I become a real person again. The working mom side of me doesn’t dominate.  I get to have fun with my own children, read books I craved all year, and go without makeup for days on end.  Now that it’s the end of summer and time to get back to school, the race is on! I have to do all the things!  We’d been planning to see the new Beauty and the Beast, but didn’t get a chance until last week.  We went to the $3 movie theater in Johnson City, TN.

Brand names and your back to school shopping budget

You guys already know about my love for office supplies.  The fact is, I’m kind of a snob when it comes to pens and paper.  Some store brands miss the mark in terms of quality and durability.  My desk usually contains familiar brand names that are sure to stand up to grading papers.  Here are a few ways you can stick to brand names without compromising your back to school budget.

Sea of Cash $150 Paypal

My laptop has been very good to me.  Though it’s not top of the line, and it doesn’t have fancy extras like a numerical keypad, it connects to the internet.  If you have access to the web, you have the potential to win a sea of cash using your computer and a few extra minutes!  Here are a few ways your laptop can earn you some cash, too.  This post contains my referral links, and I may earn a bonus if you use my links.  [Read more…]

My Daughter’s Legacy by Mindy Starns Clark & Leslie Gould

Disclosure: I received this book for review; opinions shared are mine.

I’ve always loved the written word.  My earliest memories include sitting in our family’s huge papasan chair, snuggled in the soft cushions, reading The Poky Little Puppy with my mom.  When I learned to read, it was like windows to the world opened!  I’ve experienced some losses in the past year, with the passing of both my father and grandfather.  They each left behind a brief but precious record of their lives in journal form.  Though the journals weren’t completed, it was nice to hear just a little bit from these two men who helped me grow up.  It’s a written document that creates a legacy.

In the book My Daughter’s Legacy by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould, the written word becomes a powerful way to access the past.   [Read more…]

The Questions Kids Ask! Mily Miss Questions DVD from NCircle Entertainment

When my daughter was very young, she came into the living room when I was watching TV.  I rarely watch television by myself, so I guess it caught her by surprise.  She saw that I was watching the news and asked, “Are you pretending to be a daddy?”  HA!  In one of my favorite commercials, a dad sits with his daughter at a diner.  She asks one random question after another, until she finally stumps him with, “Where do babies come from?”  It makes me smile because that’s just how kids are.  They ask questions to help develop their understanding of the world.  NCircle Entertainment sent us a review copy of the new show Mily Miss Questions. Opinions shared are mine.  I watched it with the kids to see what Mily (pronounced “Milly”) would come up with!
