The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman – one of my all-time favorites

This.

This is the image I sent to my sister, telling her I couldn’t wait to share this book with her.  It’s so good that I just had to share it with you, too!  [Read more…]

When my children were small, we read books together on a daily basis. That special routine became the highlight of our evenings.  My husband and I fondly remember the texts we eventually memorized… even if my kids don’t remember, we do!  In the early days, the babies loved books like these Silver Dolphin Bright Books.  [Read more…]

LOLL Wearable Towel makes a versatile swimsuit cover-up

Disclosure: I received this LOLL to try on. Opinions shared are mine.

The past two weeks have been a crazy whirlwind for our family. My husband had a scheduled surgery on Monday, but the complications sent him back to the hospital TWICE after the initial discharge. We’ve spent 8 out of the past 10 days in the hospital. Now that we’re home and he’s doing a bit better, I’m hoping that I can take the kids on a much-deserved trip to the pool. I’ll definitely be wearing my LOLL. This versatile swimsuit cover-up doubles as a towel.

The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel – book review

It’s really hard to know where to start with The Roanoke Girls.  It just doesn’t follow any of the typical rules for a novel, so it seems unfair to give it a typical review.  Author Amy Engel’s first book for adults was stunning in a Gone Girl shocking kind of way.  What attracted me to this book was the simple formula…..dysfunctional family+ small town mystery.  But oh, it’s so much more!  [Read more…]

You should visit Busch Gardens – even in the rain

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to rent out an entire amusement park, having it all to yourself for the day?  Now I know what that feels like!

At several points in our spring break trip to Williamsburg, VA, the universe seemed to conspire against us. Both kids got the flu. We had to change hotel rooms three times.  The weather imploded on itself by the end of our trip.  It was a sopping wet day when we headed to Busch Gardens.  My husband was ready to bail, but the kids and I gathered up our ponchos and insisted on going.  We are so glad we did!   [Read more…]
