Buying a car is a family activity #ad #CarsCom

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

When we’re on the road, our family plays a travel game.  We look for yellow vehicles, which have different values based on type.  When you find one, you have to shout, “Yellow car!”  If it’s a truck, it’s worth more points.  A bus is the highest value.  You’d be surprised how many yellow cars we now notice after playing this game!  Finding cars can be really fun, and the whole family can get involved.  A great resource like can make all the difference.  In 19 years of marriage, my husband and I have bought and sold 15 cars.  We’ve spent more than our fair share of time doing car research!  [Read more…]

The Breakdown by B. A. Paris #TheBreakdown #ad #whocanyoutrust

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by SheSpeaks; all opinions shared here are mine.

Shortly after I was given the chance to review The Breakdown by B. A. Paris same author as Behind Closed Doors), I considered all the meanings of the word “breakdown.”  Would it mean a car breakdown?  An information or process breakdown?  Or something darker?  I finished the book today, and am still trembling from the aftermath!  [Read more…]

The Ghost Files by Apryl Baker #paranormal #free #ebook

Disclosure: This post contains Amazon affiliate links and my opinions.

So, it’s kind of funny when I see a book in the library and think, “Huh, I’ve never heard of that one.”  Check it out, come home and read it, then go to Amazon to leave a review and……oh, I own it on my Kindle.  Oops.  Must have snagged it back in 2013 when it was a freebie (hey, it still is — in case you want it!)  I really like ghost/paranormal books so I breezed right through this one.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

Ask any frugal person about books and they’ll usually suggest going to the library.  After all, free is always better than paying money, right?  In my case, I was paying the library to borrow books.  The universe conspired against me every time, ensuring my returns would be well past the due date. Considering we always tend to borrow a boatload of books at a time, the late fines really added up!  This summer, my kids have been going through books like crazy, so I decided to swallow my pride and pay my debts at the library.  Libraries.  Since we have cards at several!   Feeling like a new woman, of course I had to look at the shelves and came away with way too many titles (surprise, surprise.)  However, I’ve finally figured out how to renew online.  Game changer, people!   No more late fees!   (Heads up – Amazon affiliate link used in this post. Opinions shared are mine.)  One of the books I got was the 2011 book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Try on clothes virtually with the Styled by Trendage app #fashion #sponsored

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Styled and powered by Brandbacker. Opinions shared are mine.

Fitting rooms are a thing of the past for me.  A solo trip to a clothing store happens about as often as spotting Big Foot.  Having enough time to try on multiple garments?  Ha ha.  Ordering online is convenient, but I tend to pick the same “safe” styles I’ve always chosen.  When I had the chance to try the Styled by Trendage iOS App, I realized it was a great opportunity to virtually try on clothes with no strings attached.

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.

Thursday was rainy and dull around here.  So what’s the best thing to do?  Get the kids moving!  I took my son and his friend to see the new Captain Underpants movie, then to a “jumpy house” full of inflatables.  While the kids bounced around, I enjoyed reading Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven. Happy Father’s Day, everyone! I hope this day is full of love for you. My father passed away last year, and even though we weren’t in contact for 20 years, I still think of him with love on this day.

I gave my husband the copy of Israel God’s Heart a few weeks ago as an early Father’s Day gift.
