#PlansIHave #giveaway from #FlyBy at savingsinseconds.com

Enter to win the new devotional The Plans I Have for You — AND the corresponding journal!  This adorable book is a call to action for children around the world. The colorful illustrations make the pages easy to read for kids, whether they’re looking at the words or the picture context clues.  As the story progresses, you can read it with your child to see which message resonates with him.  I especially loved the fun fonts, which are curved and swirled throughout the pages.  Most importantly, this book ignites a great opportunity to talk with your children about YOUR own ministry. Whether you are a missionary out in the African savannas, or you take the time to donate canned food at Thanksgiving, share your belief in God’s conviction.   The Plans I Have for You has a wonderful rhythm and rhyme that will be a catchy song for your soul.  The accompanying journal gives kids the chance to write their personal thoughtss about God’s plans for their lives.   So special and sweet!  This makes a great keepsake, too, so that your children can reflect upon these thoughts in years to come.

This prize package is available to US/CAN readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law.  Please be sure to read the specific guidelines issued by the sponsor. Good luck!

It’s tough to find time to read around the holidays, but if you have a chance, check out these titles!  Be sure to pin the covers so you’ll remember what to read when you have a free moment.

Diamonds are Forever

If you find yourself weirdly fascinated by celebrity news, you’ve gotta check out The Diamond Sisters.  In the third and final title of the series, Diamonds are Forever, author Michelle Madow presents an outlandish but entertaining view into the lives of the ultrarich and famous.   The book focuses on three teens who  –surprise!!— found out that their dad is none other than Adrian Diamond, the billionaire hotel-owner.  Of course.  As affluenza strikes, the girls indulge in skiing trips to Aspen, spendy dinners with friends, and throw extravagant parties.  All on Daddy’s credit card, natch.   If you had any teenage dreams of kissing a boy-band member or being an international pop star, you can revisit those visions in Diamonds Are Forever. Jesus Calling giveaway at savingsinseconds.com -- thanks to sponsor @TommyNelson

A few years ago, my dear friend Alana gave me a copy of the Jesus Calling devotional. Since then, I’ve purchased it several times as gifts for others.   What makes this devotional series different for me is the beautiful, personal way in which author Sarah Young presents the love of Jesus.  These gentle words bring peace, comfort, and healing to a tired soul.  These daily passages are very direct in sharing God’s love. Sock Monster by Stacey R. Campbell book review

Sock Monster review + giveaway savingsinseconds.com

Sometimes I worry that my kids will grow up with warped senses of reality.  I have a tendency to stretch the truth to make tasks more fun. For example, we still call parmesan cheese “Extra” at our house, because my daughter would never eat it if she knew it was actually cheese.  I allow my kids to think that frost is actually a little bit of snow on the ground.  Plus, my son believes in the Santa Key that will give the big guy access to our new house that doesn’t have a chimney.  That’s why Sock Monster was right up my alley.  If a Sock Monster can get the kids to put their clothes in the laundry basket instead of making my floor a cloth-slip-and-slide, so be it.  [Read more…]

It’s always good to have an extra gift or two waiting in the ranks. If you have a “gift closet” or something similar, you have an emergency reserve to pull from in a pinch. Sometimes money is tight right around an important birthday, or you might receive an unexpected gift from a neighbor and feel obligated to reciprocate. I like to find gifts of affordable price ranges to keep stashed in the closet for moments like this. When you get those great BOGO offers at the department store, go ahead and take the freebie. When Amazon offers you that super-deal add-on item, go ahead and add it to your cart. Just tuck it in that gift closet! [Read more…]

Great deal on this year’s hot trend – the blanket scarf

Disclosure:  Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

We’ve only had a few cold mornings so far this fall.  On one such morning, I wore a lightweight top in anticipation of the warmer temperatures that were expected later in the day.  Upon entering the school building and finding that the heat wasn’t turned on until the morning, it was a shock to find my classroom so cold.  One of the ladies across the hall was wearing a cozy-looking blanket scarf.  It looked so warm and comfortable that I longed for one, too. So when I saw Cents of Style’s Friday deal — a blanket scarf for just $15.95 + free shipping — I had to snag one for myself and a couple for Christmas gifts!   Use code BLANKETGIFT to get that special pricing.
