When I read Good Night Little Pumpkin it reminded me of my sweet niece because she was a pumpkin several years in a row! In our family, Halloween memories become so special down the road because at some point the kids outgrow the dressing up part. We enjoy walking through the neighborhood saying “Trick or Treat” but somehow we only make it to a few houses before we all get tired. In our area, it’s usually pretty cold on Halloween night so we wrap things up with some hot cocoa and a warm blanket. In this sweet board book, the pumpkin (a little boy named Milo) refuses to admit that he’s tired. He wants to do everything at the fall festival but soon he starts to wear himself out. Good Night Little Pumpkin has quite a bit of text compared to most board books. I liked that one line on each page is a different color print; this makes it a natural read-along for parents and children. Good Night Pumpkin is perfect for fall without being scary or too Halloweenish.
Have you heard of Hero? In this movie, a father who left his town and his family behind returns to a town full of broken relationships. Determined to make things right with his son, he forms a little league baseball team designed to involve both fathers and sons in a common effort. While mending his own father/son relationship, he begins to turn the heart of a father in prison, and transform a town. I don’t have a great relationship with my dad (or any relationship at all, for that matter) and I can’t imagine him coming back to try to patch things up. It’s hard to fix something that’s been broken and rusty for a long time. I really respect the makers of Hero for showing the difficulties a changed person can face when asking for forgiveness. This movie isn’t about sunshine and rainbows (at least, not at first!) and your kids might pipe up with some comments if they’ve heard some of the excuses on the movie. Still, it’s really worth a watch. Your heart will swell with joy and love at certain moments, which makes it completely worth it.

We don’t tell scary stories, the kids are too young to understand them. We just approach Fall as trhe changing of the seasons and getting ready for Halloween and Thanksgiving 🙂
Instead of scary stories, we read about their favorite characters dressing up for Halloween and going out trick-or-treating.

what i love about fall are all the pumpkin scents and the leaves changing and all the decorating for either autumn or halloween i dont really have any stories of halloween
I love decorating for fall. I love the burnt orange and deep red colors throw in some bright yellows and you have wonderful decor and flowers.
